Meet Dr. Timothy N. Cowthorn, of Greystone OB/Gyn located in Conyers and Covington Georgia

"It is gratifying to see the babies I have delivered growing up. I've attended baptisms, graduations and patient's family events. I'm even starting to see second generation babies! I enjoy getting to know the family, the sisters, aunts and mothers. Sometimes they are all my patients so I am the 'family doctor'!"

"What we do is more than medical care. It's about caring for the people. Some patients also ask for hugs. You don't just leave here with a prescription, you also get the hug. I ascribe to the words of Maya Angelou. She said, 'I've learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.'"

Dr. Cowthorn is from Louisiana and graduated from Tulane University with a masters in public health. He received his degree in Osteopathic Medicine from Texas College of Osteopathic medicine, University of North Texas Health Science Center. He specializes in high risk pregnancies and minimally invasive surgery and is one of the leaders in robotic surgery in this area. Dr. Cowthorn is board certified by the American College of obstetrics and Gynecology. He has spent his entire career at Greystone, helping to build the practice. He has privileges at Piedmont Rockdale Hospital, where has been involved in medical executive leadership for years, currently serving as the Chief of Staff at Piedmont Rockdale Hospital.

Outside of the office, Dr. Cowthorn enjoys community activities and is involved with The First Tee, a golf program for children. He is a Wolf Pack scout leader and heads camping expeditions for the troup. As a former Tulane offensive tackle, he enjoys football as well as baseball, basketball and soccer.

Dr. Cowthorn has four children, 2 girls and 2 boys who want to follow their dad into the medical field and who keep him very busy when he is home.
